How FWL works

The core Year 1 rules that shape roster strategy from draft night through the NCAA Championships.

Draft & lineup

FWL uses a 15-round snake draft. Every Division I wrestler in the FWL player pool is draft-eligible, whether or not WrestleStat lists him as a projected starter.

Each team starts exactly one wrestler at every NCAA weight: 125, 133, 141, 149, 157, 165, 174, 184, 197 and 285. The other five roster spots are bench positions.

Regular-season scoring

Dual-meet wins score positive points and losses score the same value negatively.

Roster value follows the wrestler

A fantasy team’s current score is the full season-to-date FWL total of its 10 current starters. When you change a starter, the outgoing wrestler’s accumulated value leaves the team score and the replacement’s full accumulated value comes in.

That same principle applies to projected final value. FWL rewards the roster you own and start now, not points banked by someone you moved to the bench or traded away.

Free agents, trades & waivers

  • Each team gets 5 total free-agent pickups for the season.
  • Trades are allowed until the commissioner-set late-January deadline.
  • A 2-for-1 trade may require a drop to keep the roster at 15.
  • After the trade deadline, dropped wrestlers enter a 24-hour waiver period.
  • Waiver order begins in reverse draft order; a winning claimant moves to the back.

March changes everything

At the postseason roster lock, generally around March 1, lineups freeze and roster moves close. FWL then switches from ordinary dual scoring to tournament scoring.

CONFERENCE × 2.5NCAA × 6

Conference and NCAA tournament value is added to each wrestler’s regular-season FWL total.

Final standings & tiebreakers

FWL is season-long cumulative scoring — there are no weekly head-to-head matchups.

  1. Most NCAA Tournament FWL points
  2. Most Conference Tournament FWL points

Commissioner corrections and overrides are intended only to fix league-state or scoring errors and are auditable when supported by the control.

This public tour summarizes the Year 1 format. League owners use the full in-app Rules page as the official working rulebook.
